Tests show that engine parts protected with Castrol Magnatec intelligent molecules are 15 times smoother** than those without. In fact, the level of abrasion on the first component is such that if you were to run a fingernail over it you could feel and hear the scratching sounds caused by the tiny grooves in the metal. Clearly this kind of damage to key components is not ideal if you want your engine to perform with maximum efficiency.

The image below shows two engine test parts from two identical engines. You can see quite clearly that the one not lubricated with Castrol Magnatec has clear evidence of scratches and abrasive wear. By contrast, the part that was protected by Castrol Magnatec intelligent molecules is much smoother with very few signs of damage.

Proven again and again

The evidence you've seen has been put through its paces in 18 test cells at Castrol's UK Technology Centre in Pangbourne. The oil is tested in engines that run for up to 1,000 hours at a time, placed under different stresses to help us understand how it responds to the full range of modern driving conditions. This level of rigour allows us to have complete confidence in the benefits of Castrol Magnatec.

Under a scanning electron microscope the contrast is even more dramatic. These engine parts are subjected to huge pressures and the only thing that protects them is the thin coating of oil. Clearly, the clinging power of Castrol Magnatec's intelligent molecules ensure this protective layer stays intact at all times preventing the kind of damage you see on the metal surface on the left.
